Avoiding the rain. We were sitting outside.
More exploring Portland today by rental car. Arranging the rental car and ordering a Lyft ride back from the rental car agency was a fun part of the day. Riding in the Lyft car over one of the many bridges in the pouring rain with a big bolt of lighting hitting down to the side of us was exhilarating.

We were planning on arriving in Eugene today, but we only made it to Ashland, Oregon. We are a day behind in our travels because there was a detour to avoid the fires near Redland, CA. We had to take a second detour alternative because there was a wreck on the first detour. It turned out okay because there was nice scenery at the edge of Lassen National Forrest and we are in the "whatever comes our way" attitude space. We are camping at Glenyan RV Park. The park is a little sketchy, but feels safe enough. Cathy RV is running great, although she is a little concerned about the smell coming from her disc brakes.

Heritage RV Park, Corning CA

The first night out. The drive took longer then expected because of traffic and stops. The heat was excessive, 113degrees near Sacramento, CA. We are getting acclimated to our rigs and our fellow travelers rhythms. Tomorrow we see if Interstate 5 will reopen.

"Dogspeed" on the freeway. It is not quite fast enough for "Doggles".

The very beginning

This is the beginning of our travels to New Mexico to see the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque. Seeing the Balloon Festival has been on my bucket list for years. We are first doing a shakedown trip to Portland to work over Cathy B.'s new RV. Judy planned to visit biking friends from SLO that now live in Portland and go on some bike rides. We were also going with another couple from Baywood, but they backed out after hearing that Interstate 5 was closed after Redding, CA because of fire. There seemed to be a lot of obstacles to even us getting started, but we have prevailed.
